Use this page to confirm whether a scale is compatible with DataNinja before you buy or connect it.

Recommended Brands

Ohaus and Mettler Toledo are the most common scale brands that integrate well with DataNinja. These manufacturers often offer models that meet the print-command and RS-232 requirements, but compatibility still depends on the specific model.

Check the Required Features

1. Confirm the scale can send a print command. DataNinja reads the print output from the scale to capture weight data. If the scale cannot send a print command, it is not compatible.
2. Confirm the scale supports RS-232 communication. Some models include a native RS-232 port. Others have RS-232 terminals on the internal circuit board and require manual wiring.

Check the scale manual to verify both requirements and to see whether the RS-232 connection is available through a built-in port or requires manual wiring.

If the manual does not confirm both print support and RS-232 support, do not treat the scale as compatible. A scale without print support cannot send weight data to DataNinja, and a scale without RS-232 communication cannot be connected for use with the DataNinja Hub.
